Sound Cocoon (tm) technology from Livingston Sound

Picture
An essential functional aspect of our sound design for gardens is the creation of immersive sound fields which mitigate the perception of outside traffic noise. The cocoon of sound envelops the listener, turning the focus inwards in a psychoacoustic principle known as the Precedence Effect. Large-scale spatialization, with 16-24 speakers for a typical garden, creates patterns of sonic movement that transform the aesthetics of the space. This is not noise-canceling headphone technology, nor is it about drowning out the noise pollution with louder noises. Instead, a sound field of aesthetically pleasing sounds takes foreground presence in our minds. It is effective in dramatically improving visitor experience without unduly raising the noise floor.

Please contact Livingston Sound for a demonstration of these effects at a garden near you. We have simple solutions and advanced technology solutions for a very pervasive outdoor problem.

Process for Noise Mitigation

_ Site Acoustic Analysis Documentation of the site’s audio features, natural soundscapes, incursion of traffic pollution, and daily variances in sound energy, using binaural sonic complexity analysis and wind sensing.
Active System Design Programming of a solution that analyzes real-time traffic data against known patterns, and produces a counter response which separates the immersed listener from the surrounding noise pollution, Livingston Sound's proprietary Dynamic Tuning.
System Install Using an array of speakers that discreetly create a gentle aural presence, the garden is enhanced with a solution that is both aesthetic and functional.
