First heard in previews at the end of June, 2011, Sound & Place opened on November 1, 2011 as an integrated part of the wonderful reclaimed site in downtown Santa Rosa, transformed by landscape architect Fred Warnecke, with sound equipment from PCD Designs in Santa Rosa. Consisting of a 16-channel installation with multiple modes of spatialization, the sound garden draws on sounds of the Russian River, with instrumental commentary. The garden can be visited only with museum admission, Tuesday-Sunday, 11-5.
