sonogarden @ illumigarden (Mill Valley, Marin County, Calif.)

Picture
[Note: this installation is temporarily closed during 2014]

The sonogarden was created in May 2008 as part of the artists' community at illumigarden, an outdoor lighting retail company located in a beautiful garden in downtown Mill Valley. The site was the former home of the legendary garden company Smith & Hawken. The garden can be visited 24 hours a day to view the lighting solutions and the work of local fine artists. Soundscapes play from 9am-midnight year-round.

Mill Valley hosts a downtown Artwalk every First Tuesday (seasonally and weather permitting) from 6-9pm, a chance to tour the town and see new work by local artists with a cocktail reception. The sonogarden is a 2-zone 12-channel immersive experience with a constantly varying program. Every month, in conjunction with the First Tuesday, a new sound installation is created. Admission is always free to the public. [Directions]

World of Sound
The audio system in the sonogarden is courtesy of Livingston Sound's exclusive North Bay installation partner, World of Sound & Video (218 Strawberry Shopping Center, Mill Valley).
